UFC QUOTABLES: George Sotiropoulos not bothered by getting passed over for title shot

?I'm not bothered [by being passed over] because I look at everything with a long-term view. In the bigger picture, it's like a little pebble in the road. If I was looking at it as the be-all, end-all right now, maybe I'd make it bigger than it is. If you're looking to get in one day and out the next, fine, but that's taking a big risk. I want to make a long-term investment in myself.

The year I had in 2010 was kind of a coming out party to some people who didn't know who I was or what I'd been doing for years in this sport. I had done a lot in this sport and had fought a lot of top guys all over, but the big stage that the UFC provides kind of showed people who hadn't been paying attention what I could do.

I had committed myself to this sport for the long-term long ago and everything I have done is an investment in getting better and being the best I can be. And that's what I'll continue to do until the day I leave. Nothing is ever going to change."

-Lightweight contender George Sotiropoulos talks to Yahoo! Sports about not worrying about being passed over for a title shot. Sotiropoulos meets Dennis Siver at UFC 127 in Australia next weekend.

Penick's Analysis: Sotiropoulos has done nothing but win fights since entering the UFC. He's on an eight fight winning streak, with seven of them coming in the Octagon, and he'll be expected to make it nine straight against Siver at UFC 127. He'll be "in the mix" as Dana White says once that fight is over, but he'll have as much of a claim to a shot at the title as anyone else in the division, if not more of one.
