The night's main event, the third fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard for the UFC Lightweight Championship, is now set, and it's supported by a stellar supporting card on the pay-per-view portion of the event.
Light heavyweights Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Thiago Silva fight in the co-main event, heavyweights Frank Mir and Roy Nelson square off and welterweights Rick Story and Thiago Alves meet as well.
In addition to those four fights, the UFC confirmed a bout between Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann that had been rumored for the spring. There was some doubt as to whether that fight would take place when word came from UFC President Dana White that Silva didn't want to be the "bad guy" against a well-liked and respected guy in Stann.
The event will take place from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in May.
Penick's Analysis: The UFC has a ton of really stacked cards coming up, and this fits right in there with that. This card is excellent from top to bottom so far, and the main card especially is action packed. The main event is awesome, the co-main could bring a title shot to the winner, Mir and Nelson is a great heavyweight matchup, and Stann-Silva is huge for the middleweight division. The Alves-Story matchup is also big for the welterweight division, and gives Story a huge opportunity against a top five welterweight.
