The UFC has cut two Brazilian fighters off of losing performances at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 last weekend, according to a report from Tatame.com.

Per the report, originally posted in Portuguese, Willamy "Chiquerim" Freire and Amilcar Alves have been cut from their contracts following losses to Waylon Lowe and Charlie Brenneman, respectively.

Freire, who entered the UFC with an 11 fight winning streak, was one and done after a unanimous decision loss to Lowe. Though it was his first and only fight in the Octagon, the organization has decided to cut ties with him anyway.

Alves' decision loss to Brenneman was his second straight loss in the organization. He entered the Octagon for the first time in August off of an eight fight win streak, but was submitted by Mike Pierce and followed that up with the loss to Brenneman.

Penick's Analysis: Freire had a decent amount of hype behind him, but the UFC was obviously not overly impressed with his performance against Lowe. In the packed lightweight division, that's just not something you can get away with right now in the UFC. Alves being cut makes more sense with how the UFC normally handles that, as an 0-2 start to a fighter's time in the organization typically doesn't lead to them getting a call back for a third fight.
